Calaca Day Care workers once again bagged awards in the recently concluded provincial search for “Batang may K” which was held at the Batangas Provincial auditorium on March 1, 2010. Munting Puso Day Care Center of Lumbang na Bata headed by Mrs. Rosita M. Valencia got the 1st place. Meanwhile, Little Angels II of Lumbang na Matanda headed by Marybel P. Enriquez got the 2nd place. Home Sweet Home Day Care Center of Puting Bato East headed by Mrs. Mercelina T. Marasigan landed on the 3rd place followed by Batang Calaca Day Care Center of Poblacion 3 headed by Melba Garcia and Michelle De Joya and Bulilit Day Care Center of Puting Kahoy headed by Veronica Manalo for the 4th and 5th place. Calaca topped other municipalities in the Province of Batangas including Padre Garcia, Malvar and San Pascual. Each municipality has four awardees. Luckily, Day Care Workers’ unique way of constructing spit trays on their Day Care centers gave them the edge to be declared winners of the search.

“Batang may K”, an oral and health program that started on 2008 was a sustainable program of the FDI World Dental Association, The Philippine Pediatric Dental Association and the Live, Laugh and Learn Foundation. This program became a reality through the untiring effort of the project director, Dr. Manuel V. Ballesteros, DMD with the support of Uniliver Philippines and the Batangas Provincial Government through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office down to the municipality.
